THE MAY-BIRD SINGS

Does jack-roast tastes salty?
The May-Bird asked.
''The seed and spade''
 The bird reminded.

Dad upon the tree
Mom is on the ranch
On the ranch waiting 'Jack-roast' and gruel.

On the hill ashore-beyond
Beyond -ashore, ashore on the hill
The May-Bird sings...

"Hoyyaro Hoyyaro
Hoyyaro Hoyyaro Hoyyaro..."
The yeoman's lay sounded some where in
Reminiscence of yore...
And I turned to be a child...

The yoke that is fixt on
The dot- bullocks' shoulders
The yeomen till furrows
Their women sow the seed.

Hoyyaro Hoyyaro Hoyyaro
Hoyyaro Hoyyaro Hoyyaro

The peasant's song is heard somewhere
in reminiscenceof yore...
And I turn to be a child...

"Eating of salt will raise blood-pressure
Eating of jack will raise gas-trouble
The May-Bird knows not , alas!
That... times have been ... changed.

 "The seed and spade"
The bird reminds yet.
The farm lands have turned to 'mere lands'
And rows and rows of 'Rubber' everywhere

The May-Bird  knows not
The refrain is sung again
Alas! The May-Bird sings again...
